Lately, I've been trying out oats in cooking, not sowing.
This is a successful recipe that resulted from my experiments.
Greul Dahl is a dish that exceeds expectations both in taste and cost

Ingredients
One cup of oats
One cup of red lentils washed until water runs clear
One and a half chicken stock cubes
Amount of water needed: To be determined
2-3 cloves of garlic, finely chopped
Chillies to taste, depending on the variety. I recommend using half a Scotch bonnet or one to two birdseye chillies
One heaped teaspoon of Garam Masala
Half tablespoon of pepper
Quarter of a teaspoon of salt
One teaspoon of fenugreek
Two cardamom pods
One teaspoon of curry powder
Half a tablespoon of cumin seeds (Crushed)
One and a half tablespoons of oil for frying onions
One large onion, chopped
Half a small handful of chopped coriander
Method
Toast the oats until they are lightly browned, being careful not to burn them, as this can happen quickly.
Remove from the pan and set aside.
Sauté onions in a little vegetable oil in a frying pan until they start to caramelize, then add the toasted oats. Also add the lentils and one cup of boiling water.
Add all other ingredients except for the garlic,Garam Masala and chopped coriander, which will be added when the lentils are nearly cooked.
Gently stir this mixture occasionally until the lentils are cooked. More water can be added during cooking if needed to achieve the desired consistency, as both the lentils and oats will absorb moisture quickly.
Add garlic, garam masala, and chopped coriander, then gently simmer for an additional two minutes to allow the flavors to infuse.
Enjoy it hot with rice, or use it as a dip with your favorite naan bread or chapatis.
